Alliyah Enyo (Live)

She/her
Thursday 11 May — Concertgebouw

Using sound as a meditative medium, Alliya embraces ritualisation to create ‘Sonorous Myth’ installations and performances. She is a young, emerging musician with a strong interdisciplinary practice based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Intrigued by meditative processes she moves between the disciplines of music, composition, dance and installation art. Her process involves designing, recording and archiving sound using field recordings from archeological objects to create memories. Her work exists as a mythologisation of her emotional landscape conflated with ancient Greek mythologies. Using analogue hardware, Alliyah creates soundscapes that are multi-layered and soothing, resulting in an emotional experience full of echoes and resonance.

Alliyah is part of the Youth Bursary Award programme. She is also doing a sound art residency at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. Alliyah recently performed her 9-month collaborative project ‘Selkie Reflections’ for Hidden Door festival, working with dancers and classical musicians exploring Siren and Selkie myth. Her work is supported by artists such as Erika De Cassier and Lucinda Chua. Her first release ‘Echo’s Disintegration’, released last November on the label ‘Somewhere Between Tapes’.
