Mbodj (DJ)

She/her
Saturday 13 May — Garage Noord

Mbodj plays dark percussion-influenced rhythms with pulsating basses. By mixing different genres together, she tries to connect people on the dancefloor with a melting pot of experimental sounds, breaks, dancehall and bass. She is a DJ and music programmer from Barcelona and Dakar. Her sets can mostly be described as vibrant and coherent, serving the crowd a dispersed sound coming from different African cultures. The motivating force behind these sounds has a lot to do with transforming the way we look at modern and advanced music. Reflecting on them with the intention to create community and possibility with it.

Mbodj is the co-founder of Jokkoo Collective, a group of six creatives from the African diaspora based in Spain that explores and disseminates electronic and experimental black music through the organization of events, parties and hosting shows at different radios like Rinse FM, Refuge Worldwide or Dublab or curating music festivals like 'Electrónica en Abril' in Madrid.

The Club Night is included in the FIBER Festival 2023 Passe-partout. Separate Club Night Tickets will go on sale later via Garage Noord.
