Shoal & Orah present Terugblik (Live A/V)

Friday 12 May — Noordwaards

FIBER Festival and The Something Something proudly present the release performance ‘Terugblik’ at Noordwaards. An A/V performance by Shoal and Orah, themed on looking back whilst creating the new. “Terugblik '' will be a sonic timeline through Shoal’s memories from the past 5 years. Expect a performance that goes deeper into the fragments of these memories, creating a dream state or déjà vu.

Orah (visual artist Deborah Mora) will visually support Shoal by creating new worlds where reality and illusion blend together into new memories that will intersect their artistic experiences at a deeper dimension. This will be guided and supported by technical artist and developer partner Eusebi Jucglá. The performance is also the release presentation of Shoal’s new album Terugblik, which will be released on the Amsterdam-based The Something Something.

Shoal (Kenny Kneefel) is an electronic musician and DJ from Utrecht exploring the connection between body and mind, using hypnotic rhythms, field recordings and drone sounds. His distinctive take on sound design is on display across a series of EPs on labels such as Konstrukt, Harmony Recordings and LET Recordings. He is part of the collective ISOTOOP and collaborates with Vincent Rang and Helena Basilova.

Deborah Mora is a visual artist and designer. She focuses on immersive storytelling through the production of audio-visual installations and performances. Her images are means through which new worlds can be depicted, but they are also tapping into a reality that is already present. During our FIBER Festival of 2022, Deborah was part of our exhibition programme where she made the installation Bond I – Mutualism in collaboration with Virginia Vivaldi and Jordan Edge. Last year she teamed up with Minimal Collective and Patterns of Perception to make visuals for the album-release.
