Sunday 14 May — De Brakke Grond (Hybrid)

Wassim Z. Alsindi is deeply immersed in the conceptual design and philosophy of peer-to-peer systems and has shared his knowledge in the form of writing, speaking, teaching, and consulting. Wassim has an academic background in photophysics, chemistry, astrophysics, finance and knowledge transfer. Wassim is the creative director and founder of Ox Salon, a collective endeavor to critically investigate digital culture through various events, such as discourse programs or artist residencies. Wassim has also co-founded MIT’s journal and conference series “Crypto-economic Systems” and has an editorial column at the “MIT Computational Law Report”.

Wassim’s practice and interests are multilayered, reaching from experimental electronic and electroacoustic music, curation, experimental poetry, and playwriting to innovative game design, and much more. During FIBER Festival 2023, Wassim will zoom in and out of future imaginaries found at the intersection of the arts and Web 3.0. Our technologies have allowed us to fabricate new realities, raising political questions around influence, agency, and control. What can we learn from these technologies and are they truly able to provide us with the liberties we are seeking?

Wassim Z. Alsindi is part of the symposium programme, happening on Saturday 13 May, and Sunday 14 May at de Brakke Grond. Wassim will be part of the final panel, on Sunday 14 May from 16:30 - 18:00.
